About Marie (Thyroid Cancer)
As I have told you in the about me. I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer almost 6 years ago.
The type of Thyroid Cancer I was diagnosed with is called Papillary Thyroid Cancer.
I am blessed to have many Doctors on my side from the Specialist to the Surgeon that I still have to go see on a constant basis.
I am also blessed to have the support of my family and friends of whom I would not have made it this far in life.
Unfortunately I am still battling the cancer even after a full Thyroidectomy, two radio active iodine treatments, and a subsequent surgery to remove more lymph nodes.
As well I have to constantly struggle with my weight due to the fact that with the Thyroidectomy I no longer have the natural thyroid hormones which are very important in the normal regulation of the body’s metabolism.
My Specialist has me on Levothyroxine which is a synthetic Thyroid hormone replacement, but as you and I both know there is no replacement for mother nature. And when I have to stop taking the Levothyroxine to do more tests on my TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) .
The only way I can really explain how I feel so that you understand is like you hit a brick wall and just can not move any more when the Levothyroxine starts to wear off when I have to go in for testing.
Having a Thyroidectomy is worse than Hypothyroidism a condition in which the thyroid gland does not make enough thyroid hormone.
Face in the dirt is the feeling you get when you don’t have that natural balance for your metabolism.
I have found some things that do help..
Eating healthy: You really don’t realize what you put in your mouth until it is important to how you feel.
Exerciser: I’m not talking about full on Lance Armstrong here or anything. Getting up off your duff and going for a walk in the morning and evening have helped .
Most diet plans are for Hypothyroidism diet but that is what I basically am suffering from I just don’t have a Thyroid anymore!!
Follow with me on this site hopefully I will add more information over time while I battle the nasty little cancer cell that has caused all of these problems.
